Peter's Pocket Guide - Discover China
China is an extraordinary country and you can't expect to see everything in one visit.
This Guide is aimed at those people who are planning to visit China for the first, and possibly only time. Go with an open mind and be prepared to take in all the cultural experiences that you can and you will thoroughly enjoy your adventure.
I have featured the following destinations: Beijing (Tian'an Men Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, Beijing Zoo, the Summer Palace); The Great Wall of China; Xi'an (City Walls, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, the Terracotta Warriors); Shanghai; Suzhou; Nanjing; Harbin (the Ice and Snow Festival).
The Harbin Ice and Snow Festival takes place in January/February each year. If you decide to include this in your trip, make sure you take plenty of warm clothes as temperatures will fall to around -25°C. Camera batteries will suffer in the cold so take spares and keep them warm in your pocket.
